Dave Webster, author of the big selling A Guide to the Geology of Islay gave a full-hearted Address to the Haggis delivered with great gusto and animation. Then once the food was eagerly consumed, Dave Watson, author of the truly-terrifying novel In the Devil’s Name, gave a magnificent rendition of his award-winning update of a Burns classic Tam O’Shatner’s Tale. The formal part of the proceedings was concluded with Sandy Jamieson, author of A Subtle Sadness, a key novel on Scottish identity giving an Immortal (political) Memory devoted to a comparison between Burns and Donald Trump. To no-one’s surprise Burns emerged the better, with his wonderful immortal words surpassing Trump’s rants
